Michelin Air X Sky Light

Lighter than expected

MICHELIN AIR X SKY LIGHT

Michelin is supporting the transformation of aviation to make it more sustainable towards a decarbonized aviation - net zero CO2 in 2050, by developing a new generation of radial tires with a new performance profile:

  • 10% Landings Per Tread (LPT) performance
decreases the number of tires required for operations, maintenance needs, and cuts time on the ground

  • 10% to 20% lighter than previous generations of tires
reduce fuel consumption and thus CO2 emissions

  • Ensures the same level of safety

Our commitment

Safety first, contribute to much lighter & efficient aircrafts.

Lightweight

Depending on the aircraft.

Reduce onboard tires weight by 10% to 20%

Less CO2 Emissions

If we extend that to all commercial aircraft,
the savings will quickly pass a million tonnes
of CO2 equivalent.

Savings

Lightweight tires means less fuel consumed.

Increased tire lifespan by 10% to 20%.

Scale-Up Applications

For a fleet of 40 long-haul aircraft, the savings are over 2,600 tonnes of CO2 equivalent and over a million dollars

For a fleet of 100 medium-haul aircraft with standard rotations, the savings are over 2,200 tonnes of CO2 equivalent per year
