PARIS AIR SHOW 2023

From June 19 to 25, 2023, the Paris Air Show was held in Paris - Le Bourget Airport. This is a must-attend event for all players in the global aeronautics industry, showcasing the latest technological innovations. Michelin was once again part of this major event.

·        A One Michelin journey 

All Michelin activities, With, Around and Beyond tires, were present at the booth to answer customers' questions and needs.

Among them were three Michelin Group companies offering solutions for the aerospace industry: AddUp, AST (AIP, CDI, Hallite and Mandals) and Michelin Inflatable Solutions.

This year, Michelin launched its new generation of tires: MICHELIN AIR X SKY LIGHT.

MICHELIN AIR X SKY LIGHT: meeting the needs of tomorrow's aerospace industry

Airlines are aiming to decarbonize the aviation sector with a net zero emissions target by 2050. To achieve this ambition, weight is a major issue. In the life cycle of an aircraft tire, it is the use-phase that has the greatest impact on emissions in tons of CO² equivalent. For example, on a medium-haul flight, the flight-phase accounts for over 96% of the impact, and over 98% on a long-haul flight, due to the weight of the products to be transported. The lighter the aircraft, the less fuel it consumes and the less CO² it emits.

MICHELIN Air X Sky Light is 10 to 20% lighter than previous generation of tires - thanks to a new radial tire technology.

MICHELIN AIR X SKY LIGHT: a breakthrough innovation

MICHELIN AIR X SKY LIGHT is an ultra-light, low-carbon, high-performance tire that offers the same level of safety, paving the way for a new generation of tires.

Its optimized crown architecture and footprint increases the volume of rubber to be worn, extending its life by 15 to 20% compared with previous-generation tires.

This performance is made possible by the use of ultra-resistant carcass materials and latest-generation cords and hybrid fabrics. MICHELIN AIR X SKY LIGHT will enable the integration of new, ever more sustainable materials, in order to achieve the Group's objective of using 100% sustainable materials by 2050.
